New Zealand calling Canadians
Be it a great climate, scenic beauty, and high quality of life – New Zealand is known for it all. Though the country has strict regulations in terms of the number of immigrants it allows in the country each year, New Zealand is welcoming towards Canadians and brace them as visitors, students, partners of residents, and Working Holiday Employers.
So, if you wish to come to New Zealand from Canada, here is all you need to know.
Popular New Zealand Visa Options for Canadians
Canada Working Holiday Visa
This visa allows Canadians between the age of 18 -35 years to holiday, work, and study in New Zealand. You can choose to apply for a 12 or 23 months visa. The NZ working holiday visa is an open work visa that allows you to work in any role, for any employer, or anywhere in New Zealand. However, you cannot accept a permanent job whilst on this visa. New Zealand working holiday visa Canada also allows you to study one or more courses for up to 6 months.
Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV)
If you have a job offer from a NZ employer who is accredited, and you have the skills and qualifications to do the job offered, then you can apply for the NZ Accredited Employer Work Visa. The AEWV allows you to stay in New Zealand for up to 3 years. It also allows you to study for up to 3 months within a 12-month period.
The advantage of getting this visa is that you can apply for the Straight to Residence Visa or after 2 years a Work to Residence Visa if your role is on New Zealand’s Green List. It also allows you to apply for a Highly Paid Residence Visa if you meet certain requirements.
Skilled Migrant Category (SMC) Visa
If you are below 55 years of age and have the skills that will boost New Zealand’s economic growth, then this visa is for you. You will first have to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to Immigration New Zealand (INZ) detailing your qualifications & work experience. The SMC visa allows you to stay in New Zealand indefinitely.
Partnership-based & dependent child Visas
Canadians whose partners hold a New Zealand visa (Eg. student visa, work visa) or the partners are NZ citizens or residents can apply for a partnership-based visa to join their loved one in New Zealand. Dependent children can also join their parents in New Zealand on a visitor or student visa.
