The New Zealand Government has confirmed that the adult minimum wage will increase from $18.90 to $20.00 per hour on 1st April 2021. This means that the Employers will have to ensure that the payroll systems and processes are updated, and the employees will have to consider the minimum wage when they negotiate with employers.
Increase in the minimum wage may impact the assessment of median wage by Immigration New Zealand (INZ). Median wage is reviewed in November each year. Those who wish to apply for an Essential Skills Work Visa will need to keep in mind that there is a possibility that the median wage increase may impact them.
If you are planning to apply for an Essential Skills work visa and are uncertain of the process, get in touch with our experienced License Immigration Advisers (LIA) at Immigration Advisers New Zealand Auckland Office. We will assess your circumstances and will guide you in your visa application.
