This visa is for you if you are below 65 years of age, an experienced business person and have a minimum of NZD 3 million in available funds or assets. The assessment criteria for this visa type follows a points-based system. You will first need to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) telling Immigration New Zealand about your business experience and investment. If your EOI is successful, then you along with your partner and dependent children will receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for New Zealand residence. You can include your partner, and dependent children aged 24 and under, in your visa application.

You must keep your nominated funds invested in an acceptable investment in New Zealand for 4 years. You will be asked to show evidence that you have kept your funds invested at the end of the second and fourth years you are in New Zealand.

Immigration New Zealand considers it OK to transfer funds between acceptable investments. If you already have funds in an acceptable investment in New Zealand when you apply for residence, your investment period can start from the time our application is approved in principle.

Additionally, you must spend 146 days per year in New Zealand, or 438 days at any time over the four-year investment period if you have invested a minimum of NZ$750,000 in growth investments.
